About SWIHE
Southwestern Indiana Home Educators (SWIHE)
was organized to serve the area's homeschool community:
- to provide encouragement to area homeschoolers through educational opportunities, such as monthly fellowship coffees, printed literature, publication of a regional newsletter, etc.
- to provide resource packets for prospective/new homeschool families.
- to conduct an annual "Homeschool Information Day."
- to sponsor an annual regional convention for the benefit and advancement of home education.
The purpose of SWIHE is to promote the God-given responsibility of parents to "train up [their children] in the way [they] should go." (Proverbs 22:6)
We believe parents are their children's first, best, and most important teachers. It is the responsibility of parents to discern, supervise, and choose appropriate curricula and materials for their children.
The SWIHE Steering Committee consists of six Christian families who volunteer to serve the homeschool community. SWIHE serves the community with a distinctly Christian perspective and seeks to be a Godly encouragement to all homeschoolers living in southwestern Indiana.
The Steering Committee does not endorse any particular schooling method, product, activity, or curricula.
"Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength. These commandments that I give you today are to be upon your hearts. Impress them on your children. Talk about them when you sit at home and when you walk along the road, when you lie down, and when you get up." - Deuteronomy 6:5-7 (NIV)
